Fabulous Book That Teaches The Importance of Keeping the Oceans Clean
What a fabulous book! Teaches children about the ocean and the importance of keeping it clean through a fun, interactive and engaging book, without preaching to them. Aimed at the year 3 age group, it is great for readers of every ability from the young just starting out to the readers who are slightly more advanced. Also great for reading to the little humans too - without them knowing you are really reading it for you!!!

A fun and educational read
We absolutely loved reading Somebody Swallowed Stanley. What a brilliantly clever way to educate little ones about the dangers of plastic pollution to ocean creatures. It’s a really fun and beautifully illustrated book that doesn’t shy away from sharing a strong environmental message. And it’s written by a real wildlife expert, which my nieces and nephews were most excited about. We can’t wait to read more of Sarah’s wonderful words, where will Stanley end up next? There are sadly too many examples of where plastic bags can end up these days...! Keep spreading these important messages Sarah.

A super story of a plastic bag discarded in the ocean and the harm it can do
I read this to my 2 granddaughters (aged 2 and 4). They love the humour but have also grasped - even at their tender years - the importance of the message. The 4 year old had a similar story as part of her home learning from the Reception class teachers and really took to heart the subject of litter and how it can affect wildlife. She regularly goes litter picking with her grandad now! The 2 year old loves to join in with the "guessing" of which creature has swallowed Stanley - even after many readings of the book.

Features on cbeebies Bedtime Stories - enjoyed by my 4yo & 7yo
After watching Tom Hardy read this delightful story on cbeebies Bedtime Stories my children requested we buy the book as they enjoyed watching it so much; my 4yo actually cried when it disappeared from the BBC iplayer (we have since found it on YouTube, thankfully!). I love the message this book is trying to convey, and both of my children have recognised the impact of litter. As a result we also bought another book by this author: Somebody Crunched Colin. I have a 7 year old and 4 year old whom both enjoy this story. My 7 year old is fully capable of reading this book alone however I like to read to them both together. However, I'm sure it's not a patch on Tom's reading. If only Tom Hardy were here to read it for my bedtime story...

Good story about plastics and the need to recycle and reduce. Wish I bought it in hardback. It’s getting a lot of use.
