Beautifully presented burgers and sides
The Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet is a new specialty cookbook and guide by Joni Marie Newman. Originally published in 2011, this reformatted update from Quarto on their Fair Winds Press imprint released 23rd July 2019 is 240 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats.I'm usually a little wary of veg*n cookery which copies non-plant-based cuisine. To be honest though, summer, barbecue/grilling weather and entertaining season often brings family and friends together who 'don't like' vegetarian foods because it's 'bland and tasteless'. It's always nice to have some tried and true recipes which are anything but bland, and these true comfort food style burgers and fries with all the trimmings, fit the bill perfectly. The book is lavishly and clearly photographed throughout (kudos to the graphics team!). It follows a sensible layout; an introduction with how-to's and basic general instructions is followed by chapters full of burger variations made with different base ingredients (meat-like protein, bean, tofu, grain, vegetable based, seitan, etc). There are some breakfast sandwich recipes, as well as buns, sides and fixings for the burgers. The ingredients are (mostly) easily sourced and can be found in any large grocery. The book also includes an alphabetical index for recipe access. All of the recipes are helpfully provided in US customary measurements as well as converted to metric (SI) units.I tend not to highlight any particular recipe when reviewing, all the ones we tested were quite good, but the cilantro lime rice side dish was -outstanding- and we've made it several times since our test runs.Five stars.Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Not a cookbook, but a burger bible!
The Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet by Joni Marie Newman is not simply a cookbook, but a burger bible!I am no longer a vegan, but I endeavor to incorporate as many veggies into our diet as I can, including substituting vegan options for some of our favorite comfort food. Burgers, by far, are one of my most favorite things on this planet. Other than a favorite spicy black bean burger recipe made by a friend that I regularly use, I didn’t really have many other options, at least ones that were homemade.Newman will have your tummy grumbling after only a few flicks of the page! From the Aloha Teriyaki Burger and the Jalapeno Cornbread Burger, to the truly drool-worthy Pastrami Stack, Newman has provided enough burger options to satisfy anyone, even the most picky carnivore who swears vegan burgers will never suffice. The Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet doesn’t only include burger recipes, it also includes recipes for sauces such as tofu cashew mayo; buns and bread, including cheesy biscuits and sweet potato buns; and, fries and sides such as smoky potato wedges and fried dill pickles! The instructions for each recipe are easy to follow and well-suited for all levels of cooks, even those new to the vegan arena. Whether you are vegan or not, these recipes can easily be tailored to satisfy all types of foodies. Cringe at the idea of cashew mayo? Use regular mayo and add a slice of your favorite smoked cheese. Even if you incorporate just one vegan meal into your meal plan a week, the planet and your body will thank you for it.The Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet by Joni Marie Newman will have even the most stubborn carnivore salivating after the first bite.*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

YUMMY VEGGIE BURGER COOKBOOK
The pub note says, “Let’s get this patty started,” and I agree! While I used to eat veggie burgers galore, now that I’m married again my hubs makes the best real meat burgers that drip goodness off the plate. But this updated version of THE BEST VEGGIE BURGERS ON THE PLANET may just sway me to return to meat-less ‘wiches. And OMG do these look fab! There are 100+ recipes for veggie burgers that make the mouth water. Like BLT with Avocado Burger, Pulled "Pork" Sliders, Inside-Out Sushi Burgers, Super Quinoa Burgers, and so much more.Includes budget-friendly tips, a "fast-food” section that recreates your fave drive-through burgers, and newer techniques such as slow cooker and air fryer. Yum! Veggie burgers here I come! 5/5Pub Date 23 Jul 2019.Thanks to Joni Marie Newman, Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press, and NetGalley for the review copy. Too much reliance on wheat gluten & TVP
I was excited to get this book as I really enjoy vegan veggie burgers. I just finished thumbing through the book. Most rely either on wheat gluten/ seitan or TVP— neither of which I can eat. Neither is a friend to my digestive system. There are a few recipes that use something else. The author also uses a lot of tofu. I’m actually fine with that; I like tofu & it doesn’t upset my stomach like the wheat gluten and TVP do.I’m trying to decide if there is enough in it to keep or if I am going to return it.

Expensive ingredients!
A lot of ingredients are expensive and too much TVP based recipes. Your better of just buy vegan burger vs this book.
