Mystery driftwood-worth the $&
To start: ITS DRIFTWOOD THAT WAS BOUGHT ONLINE. If you don't 'like it' I'm not sure what to tell ya. For stating it's between 8"-12" it hits the mark. For me personally I think what I got was perfect and somehow met what I was hoping to get. Now to be fair 2 are small fat pieces with 1 longer thinner piece. It's a great quality for what you get, nothing came broken, or seemed to be altered during shipping. If you're wanting to have almost a mystery box for driftwood- this is the product.

Happy
I ordered 3 pieces and was initially was a little disappointed when they arrived. One is an almost solid bark-like piece and the other two I felt were only marginally more fun. I had planned to use two pieces in my 20 gallon aquarium and one in my starter snake tank. Boiling was a process. I boiled, drained the murky water, and boiled again 4-5 times over the process of 4 hours. The solid piece never did stop making the boiled water dark as coffee but I felt I had reduced the tannins enough that I could accept a little brown in the aquarium if it happened. After placing the two pieces in the aquarium I'm actually really happy with both. The solid piece has a lot of character under the water and both are a perfect size and color. They both have just a tiny bit of bouyancy but do not float after boiling. I'm giving them some more time to become completely water logged then I'll set them how I like them and arrange the plants on and around them. I'm very happy with them. They arrived pretty clean and any dirt or dust was easily removed in the rinsing and boiling process. 24 hrs in and my tank is not any murkier, I do have a carbon filter and accu-clear so that may be of assistance to anyone who is having problems with tannins in the water. They're a HUGE improvement to the aquarium and my fish actually does interact with them and she's normally not the sort. I have not used the third piece yet as I have not set up the planned snake tank yet.

Driftwood Decor: Beautiful But Hard-Earned Tank Additions
After purchasing three small pieces of driftwood for my aquarium, I quickly learned these natural decorations require serious preparation! The pieces arrived with a beautiful, organic shape that perfectly matched my tank's aesthetic, but they weren't ready for immediate use.I had to boil each piece for several hours to remove tannins and potential contaminants. The water turned tea-colored during boiling, confirming this step was absolutely necessary. After boiling, I soaked them in clean water for a full week, changing the water daily as it continued to darken (though less intensely each day). The preparation process was time-consuming but completely worth it. My fish immediately began exploring their new environment, and the driftwood hasn't affected my water parameters at all. The natural look these pieces add to my aquarium creates exactly the serene underwater landscape I was hoping for.

Worth the money!
I boiled for 2.5 hours and they didn’t leak any tannin! I have a 20 long gallon tank and they were perfect sizing for it! They stick out on the top a little (my liking) near the water flow but I’m okay with it, as my betta doesn’t like heavy water flows so it’s a mini water fountain.

Do not buy
Do not recommend. The pieces of wood look beautiful and were somewhat true to size but they are full of dye. It turned my tank a reddish brown color. I did multiple water changes and then boiled the wood multiple times only to put them bank in my tank to have the water turn color again. I will be returning

Size
Not bad but I was expecting more, advertised as 3 pieces 8 to 12 inches and get one 6” one 8” and one 8.5” which looks like it was cut right off a branch.

Great Value, got exactly what I wanted
I received 3 small pieces of driftwood that, once attached together, were perfect size for my 5gal tank. Here's the process I used to prepare it:In order to get a good deal of tannins out, I boiled the wood over the course of a week, replacing the water 5-8 times a day. (pro tip) I used baking soda for the first few days, it significantly helps release more tannins. **disclaimer: you will never be able to get ALL of the tannins out. I highly reccomend sticking Seachem Purigen in your filter if you want to keep your water crystal clear.**Anywho, next, I let the wood dry out and used a dremel tool to sand/smooth some of the rougher spots ( probably not necessary, I just worry about delicate betta fins) and to make the holes in the wood bigger (purely for aesthetic purposes). Sandpaper would work fine for this but will take just a little more time/effort.I then boiled the wood once more to make it waterlogged again, and I secured the 3 pieces together with black zip ties to make one large centerpiece. I attached java moss over the zip ties to cover them up, and a then attached anubias with aquarium glue.Just need to throw a few more plants in there and my tank will be complete 🎉

Great value and beautiful selection
So- I just got this but as soon as I opened the package I was in love. There are 3 good PCs of wood. You can stack them or they can be molded together. They are like a Puzzle.... the PCs were selected well. I boiled them for 1 hr — changing the waters halfway. Then I emptied the water and let them sit overnight in the pot (with fresh tap water cold). In the morning it was not as dark like tea! But slightly tinted yet. I boiled the wood a second time and repeated! Again the water at first when you boil it? It’s dark like tea..... but I do think the 2nd boil is needed to release more tannins. And to avoid your aquarium being tinted. So I’ll let them cool now and throw them into aquarium once I glue some plants to them. Totally worth the $16. You get some good sized PCs. The longest is maybe 7-8”. Not bad at all!!! I’d buy again for sure!!!! Ty for the vendor to ship it fast also. You done well!! Btw the wood wasn’t sinking in my aquarium right away (after all the boiling etc). But I think a day or two and it’ll settle down.
