great plants for northern pepperphiles!
I love this seed company! I ordered a decent variety of hot pepper seeds from these guys (like 20 or so types) and they threw in a number of extra seed packs and even a few varieties i did not dorder! The seeds are packaged very basically but effectively in little cellophane envelopes with a label on each pack and staple to keep it closed. I prefer to use the wet paper towel germination method and while i did not have 100% germination, I would say i hit around 85%. Some of the varieties took quite a while (like 10 or 12 days) to pop open but diligence paid off and i got at least 3 or 4 of each variety i sprouted to root and start under lights this winter. In the spring I took the young plants outside to harden off (i start them in 44 oz used styrofoam soda cups) and then transplanted them into the ground and into large pots after memorial day. Every variety was correctly labeled and the peppers I am now starting to harvest are excellent! Try the "Black Betty" and "7 Pot Brain Strain" varieties - both are large and hearty plants in my growth zone with tons of production and really unique (frightening!) looking fruit! As to the complaints about plants not making it through the mail - buy you plants locally! Order you seeds from these guys and other reputable seed companies and always sprout/root more than you think you will need. A pepper plant given to an acquaintance at work or in the neighborhood is a foundation for friendship. As your plants grow and fruit - you always have something to talk about!
