Cut & Assemble Santa's Workshop (Dover Crafts: Origami & Papercrafts)

Wonderfully detailed!
This model is adorable! There are 16 full-color pages to cut and assemble. My 8-year-old will definitely need my help! There are plenty of directions and helpful hints throughout the book. The artwork is detailed with lots of fun surprises such as, Elf Hermey reminding us to brush our teeth, a portrait of Saint Nicolas from 343 AD, reindeer hoof prints on the stable floor, and candy wrappers carelessly left on the seat of Santa's sleigh. We are going to use scissors, an X-ACTO knife, a cutting mat, school glue, and invisible tape to complete this project. The book suggests this craft will take "several evenings" to complete. I think it will take my son and I a while because there is so much cutting. I'm very pleased with this paper model book and excited to get started.

I want more of these
This was quite easy to assemble, only took me maybe six hours. Really wish these was more of these. Unfortunately the other cut and assemble I purchased (not from this author) was NOT as easy and terrible instructions.

Cut & Assemble Santa's Workshop
WOW! This is cool! Difficult, and definitely not for a child, but way cool. I seriously think it will take me weeks to finish it - but I am determined to finish it! This is a very detailed model of Santa's workshop that you (as the title says) cut & assemble.OK some helpful hints -* You should definitely have s scoring tool (which I do have luckily). This is light weight cardstock but the small pieces are hard to fold exactly. The more exact you are the better it will turn out.* I suggest using a strong double sided tape, not glue. Glue is messy and takes longer to dry. But double sided tape works perfect.* Read all the directions first! And be sure to follow the directions - This project is intricate and a little confusing. You will want to know what you are doing before you forge ahead.* Take your time and just go one step at a time - and enjoy it as you go! So all-in-all - yes it is HARD... but I think it is so worth it! I mean, I don't think I would have liked it if it had been easy. I do like a challenge. It makes it more fun and it is going to be so awesome when it is done! And I will feel like I really accomplished something. I am just not sure how I am going to store it between Christmases. I may just have to get it its own special box. There are a couple other ones by Matt Bergstrom. I want more! Maybe the Haunted house next?I voluntarily posted this review after receiving a copy of this book from Dover Crafts - Thank You!!

Not Child's Play!
Well this one certainly hasn't turned out to be "easy-to-make", and I wouldn't classify it as a "holiday activity for the whole family" as stated in the blurb on the back cover of, "Cut & Assemble Santa's Workshop". Nor would I suggest that it "would make a charming keepsake decoration", since a paper model would be difficult to store safely from one year to the next. But despite the very misleading information in the blurb, I do think this publication, and the resulting 3D paper model of Santa's Workshop, would make a fun holiday activity for a very patient adult or teen that has a lot of time on their hands, good eyesight, and a steady hand, and also happens to love paper craft models.I just don't happen to be that person.
