I returned a PEC because the protractor head was off by 1-1/2 degrees. I am happy to say this protractor head is much better quality and dead on. At 90 degrees, I can scribe lines that are right on top of each other when reversing the square on the work. The graduations are etched (vs a riveted on scale on the PEC) and the zeros are finer. The adjustment thumbscrews also ride on the rotating head much more nicely. I bought too many "squares" that are not. Having one I can trust is great. I have three other try squares in my shop. This one now gets most of the use. Only draw back is the price. Wow. But can't find a head to head, apples to apples comparison for a lesser price so I swallowed hard and bought it. I'd like a longer rule for it, but still balk at the $100 price for an 18 inch steel rule.
