Note I have replaced the pump recently after over 5 years. I’m still using the box set and the black media filter. It depends on how long and what type of filter. The blue filter works great, sometimes clearing water in about an hour. I would do a really good cleaning or a partial water change before setting up then clean the filters every few days to remove the gunk the first week or so.It’s always good to make sure the pond is mostly shaded from direct sun. A tip, fill the box with water before placement: doesn’t float or move around. **Q: What is the difference between this model and MF002P?** A: The mf002p is a different brand or seller. It looks like the same setup. I purchased the totalPond at a substantial discount than what is listed:had great success with my purchase but keep in mind you will have to take the submerged system out of the pond to clean filters. Its a bit messy but the system works great for my 150 gallon pond. The filter works very well to keep the water clean. It's a biological filter and needs a few weeks to allow for the build up of good bacteria. Once the bacteria blooms, the water stays clear. I clean the filter pads about once every 3 months and clean out the entire filter once every 6 months when I move the turtles from their outdoor pond to their indoor pond and vice versa. This filter coupled with a UV filter to kill algae (what causes the water to turn green) has kept the pond water crystal clear. If the pond wasn't in full sunlight, the UV filter wouldn't been needed. I have had this setup for over 2 years and have been very happy with it.
