It's even a vital bit of kit, because it does it's job based on a simple principle of storage battery voltage sensing. My small project has 620w of solar panels, a 300Ahr LFP battery, and a 2kw pure sine wave inverter. This powers two deep freezers which use (when both are on) no more than 240w, barely 10% of the inverter capacity. The switch limits on this kit can be customised, and I have set mine to switch back to grid when my battery reduces to 12.5v, and revert to the inverter once the battery voltage increases past 13.1v. The switch between the two power sources is so seamless and quick that my freezers don't stop running if it happens while they're running. So far I've proved to myself that a fully charged battery can easily run my freezers, now it's a question of keeping the battery charged well enough. Ok with the UK weather I might need more panels, but here's the thing;- with this device you don't have to worry about your battery running low because you have the peace of mind knowing that if it does then you have the grid as backup.This is my second device, when my previous item went faulty after over two years.
