There are two short beginner stories in kana. The main pages are all images. After the story, there are English translations which include both kana and romaji.

I did not know many of the words in this book. Most of my studying has been on Duolingo and university courses, neither of which are geared at teaching at a child's level.That said, this book was slightly dark and hilarious and gave me a bunch of new words to memorize. I'm,ll put together a list and see if I remember more tomorrow.

I tried reading it during winter break from university but couldn't make sense of some stuff.We hadn't learned all the grammar points we needed.Don't be afraid to pick this up to flex a couple muscles and learn a couple words. I learned, bee, honey, seal, among a few others. It's a cute story but not a ton happens.

The illustrations are really nice, and the story is cute (though very short), but the English translation included at the end of the book is very sloppy. Google Translate could have done a better job.

This is a very short, very good story for beginning Japanese learners. I, myself, am a beginner. It's easy to read, and follows the traditional Japanese writing format (top to bottom, right to left).I appreciate the use of hiragana. There is no kanji in this book, which is even better for beginning learners.

While the book itself is good for Japanese practice the translations and text in the back don't match up with the text in the main part of the book. For instance one part of the text in the main part of the book is, さあ、おうちにかえろうか while the translation in the back lists the text as さ、おうちにかえろう。For that matter the phrase あゆきがふってきた is translated as Oh! Its snowed, when it actually means Oh! Its snowing. Also, grammatically, speaking the user also has to know the volitional form of the verb, how to use かどか, and how to use the お as an honorific.

I love my short little cute bear book. Im just learning japanese. Im learning on my own. I can read this. Cute. I love my book.
