At the tea room you could taste the five teas that were thrown into the harbor during the Boston Tea Party and this was one of them! We loved it because of its hint of smokiness, add a little milk and sugar and bam you’ve got the best tea! And it’s pretty cool to test some history! The tea itself is delicate, with of course the full-bodied overlaying notes of smoky pine. It may be somewhat odd in flavor to the uninitiated, but it definitely “grows on you.” I haven’t had the (now discontinued) Twinings version of Lapsang Souchong in quite awhile, but I seem to recall that it was a bit more robust in terms of the tea flavor itself.
