Despite the feet already coming pre-carved and the bridge slot being flat, it fit perfectly. The wood is of excellent quality and the string grooves are the right height for my violin, so no other adjustments were needed. If you have a cheap electric violin like the Tower Strings brand sold by Fiddlerman, or a cheap student violin, this can be a quick and relatively easy installation. Just be VERY careful with an acoustic violin, that your sound post doesn't topple over in the process. For anything more expensive than, say, $300 - even an electric violin, I'd still take it to a luthier, but I can recommend this bridge even in that case. I can't speak to its effect on sound quality unfortunately, because e-v's without an acoustic body sound drastically different than an acoustic violin for obvious reasons, but for feel and playability? I use cloth-backed sandpaper gently resting on the violin (and facing UP) to fit the curve of the feet, then draw lines down to mark the new string notch locations, and sand the bridge lower. Cut the new sting nocks, and sand the bridge about 0.5 to 1mm thinner for most violins, and you'll have a pretty adequate basic setup.
