You chose the wrong boot. It needs to specifically state safety toe. **Q: I work in the mud a lot of the time and need a waterproof boot I see they say h2o but are they waterproof?** A: I have used these boots off and on, mostly off for year and a half. At first they were waterproof, like a lot of new boots are. The bottom line is these boots are treated with oil from the factory, something you could do to any new leather boot. They leak now at the bottom seam around the sole. Treating doesn't stop this kind of leak. They might have held up the water for a few months longer than a regular pair of boots but for the price they should not be advertised as waterproof because that is temporary. **Q: Is 10 m the same as 10 D?** A: Yes. The packaging from Ariat actually says "10 D" but Amazon has it listed as "10 M." Its the exact same thing. Please let us know if we can help with anything else... Found these several years ago. Fit is great. Waterproofing is incredible, literally walk through deep puddles and edge of pond and never get wet inside. Soles have just the right grip without big lugs to collect Texas mud/clay. My first pair got ruined from a cement job we did but I kept them to use for that type of work again. Second pair is going strong. Bought these because they were on sale for a great price and these boot rarely go on sale. So will simply stash them until my current pair bites the dust. After getting caught in the rain a few times, I soon took to wearing boots as my primary footwear. I needed high boots and hate all that lacing, I found western boots suited me well. Some brands did not feel right for me from the start, but I did find a few pairs of other brands that I liked. Yet, once I got my first pair of Ariats, I was sold. They have been the best fit and comfort for me. After several years of wearing Ariat western boots, I decided that I would look into waterproof boots. I also wanted to try boots with a lower heel as I have wondered if some of my back problems might be aggravated by the higher heel in some western boots. So, I decided to try the Ariat Workhog. The fit seemed perfect when I first put them on. However, the boots quickly loosened up as they broke in. After reading some of the reviews, I became a bit concerned that they would become TOO loose. Part of the deal here is that they are NOT western boots. They are more like engineer style boots. The high heal of western boots shoves your foot into the toe, giving you that snug feel. It had been a long time since I wore engineer boots, but recalled how they had a little "swim" to them. I have been growing to like this feel, and they are not getting TOO loose...not even close to causing any rubbing, irritation or even hinting at blisters that I had experienced with engineer boots years ago. These boots are a LOT warmer than my western boots (riding in single digit temps this year) and I found they actually stay warmer with one pair of socks than two!
