All I know for sure is that once you have one of these blankets, you'll love it. I keep mine on the bed year round...it's perfect!! Easy to wash/dry, light weight, just perfect. Who cares about the specifics....I LOVE this blanket!!! **Q: Does the blanket need to be washed to remove the smell.** A: Purchased one on 9/20/17. After 4 cycles in the washer, the smell of VOCs are still there...slowly decreasing after each wash.
