A: Difficult to say. The door looks solid wood. Shelves look veneered but good quality. Have had mine for quite a few years and no mark on it. Looks like when I bought it

**Q: What is the distance between the two black legs for entry to the shelf area above the door? The entry point at rhe narrowest side??**
A: Don't understand your question but from the floor to bottom of cupboard is two inches.  When you open the door, there is eight inches width when door open.  Don't know if that is what you mean.  Sorry.

This is a very sturdy and quite good looking unit especially for the price. The instructions could have been clearer but it didn't take long to figure them out. I bought it to fit into a small space by my desk and to carry my new slimmer computer so it's size is ideal. I would have considered five stars except for the fact that the screws intended to hold the door handle and the magnetic closing plate were too short so I have had to resort to super glue! Hopefully this will be strong enough. Overall though - a good buy.
