I became a fan of Miller when I found most writers in the genre to be a let down. Gore, sex, but no story, no substance. Miller makes even, especially his villains, fascinating. They could be anyone you know, and they are not just random hillbillies intent on eating you and raping what's left. If Miller DID create such a character, he'd develop it so well it would be unrecognizable from most books of that kind. In fact, Miller has gone into cannibalism and other such topics that have been beat to death, yet when he writes it it becomes new. Dollhouse is an exceptional book of a man and his depravity. Of how anyone could fall victim to a human monster...maybe survive. His "bad guy" is incredibly well developed, and goes above and beyond the usual psycho this genre often makes so similar. PLEASE!!! If you love horror, read this book. Once you do, you'll be a fan of this authors work. Whether a realistic killer, demons, or even clowns on a rampage, Miller makes the reader go on a fantastic ride. You will not ever regret buying one of these books. Dollhouse is a truly scary, fascinating book about a man from both the view of his own mind and the minds of those he torments. One big complaint... *by E***H on November 15, 2015* This was my first experience reading a Tim Miller novel. I bought it on recommendation from Amazon and after reading the synopsis, I was certainly intrigued. I finished the book in one sitting tonight. The gore was great fun, and overall I truly enjoyed the story. However... I had just a few small issues with the book, and Tim, if you read this review, please don't take what I'm about to say as me impugning your work as a writer or your very vivid imagination, or that I wasn't very much entertained by the book. Just some constructive criticism coming from a total book junkie. First, the book felt extremely rushed and the writing style felt slightly...juvenile. The storyline was so imaginative, I wish more time had been spent on development of the three main characters, and that the story had taken just a little bit more time to unfold; the tension and fear needed a chance to build before the gore-gasms. Second (and I feel like a jerk saying this so bluntly), the grammar, spelling, and punctuation were absolutely atrocious. The tense kept changing mid-sentence from present tense to past tense, and that by itself really interrupted the flow of the story. I'm pretty sure you self-publish, but you may want to find someone you trust to give your books a preliminary read and to make the necessary grammar corrections.
