Review: Very well structured and natural flow - I've been using this book for a week and already find the layout and structure superior to others I've used. After trying many other self-teaching books/methods I've always found that the bulk of learning focuses around language useful to a short stay tourist, rather than learning the core of the language in order to become familiar with any scenario. Bregsteins book however, builds solid foundations and allows the user to become confident in structure of the sentence. I've used this book to effectively start from scratch and although it begins with a simple alphabet, I found the explanation of phonetic sounds and basic rules more digestible than other books. As a novice, I wish I had started with this book; its clear, structured and the exercises throughout help to solidify what has been learned. For optimum learning, do as advised and dont skip ahead. Good luck in your studies.

really good and concise book for independent study alongside your classes. good explanations of grammar. lots of examples of language patterns. Has an answers index for all the exercises. There are also sound files available for listening practice. Happy i bought it.
