None of the are, The "essential oils" I bought were not oils at all, they were "floral waters" scented with "natural fragrance" even though they clearly said essential oil on the front, and the ingredients list states 100% essential oil. I bought 6 oils, Rosemary, Lavender, Atlas Cedarwood, Thyme, Lemongrass, and neem. I have good oils for making soaps, but I was out and needed these faster than my normal channel could ship, so I tried these. They were more expensive than my quality oils from New Directions Aromatics, even with the shipping. In big letters and in the advertisement they state they are ESSENTIAL OILS, 100% NATURAL. The labeling doesn't meet FDA guidelines, on the outside of the boxes it simply lists essential oil. FDA requires the label to list the water, the fragrance, the essential oils (haha) and the polysorbate 20 and the preservative. There is a broad definition of natural that includes "Nature Identical Fragrances" so they squeak by on that. But the context is DESIGNED TO DECEIVE YOU. How do I know these are the ingredients? These are like room sprays, google it, you will see. Anything with water requires a preservative. When I shake the bottles they bubble up and foam. That means it contains a surfactant/solubilizer like polysorbate 20 I'm guessing, and it is clearly water because oils dont foam, and you can tell by the feel and texture they contain oil but are mostly water. These are not listed in the ingredients on the exterior box and on the bottles either, but the hint is the bottle has a section that reads "Natural Perfumery- Made with 100% natural fresh FLORAL FRAGRANCE that blends well with almost any other essence". These alleged essential oils don't remotely smell anything like the essential oils they claim to contain. These don't contain the essential oils they claim to be. They ALL smell the same on drydown, like fabuloso cleaner. THESE ARE NOT ESSENTIAL OILS NOR DO THEY CONTAIN ESSENTIAL OILS!! DONT BUY!!!! I would give zero stars if I could. SCAM!!!! **Q: I've heard lavender essential oil is an effective alternative to mothballs. Has anyone tried it? Thanks!** A: Based on the chemical structure of the active ingredient in moth balls, napthelene, your best bet would be to use other bicyclic sesquiterpenes such as Juniper and Cedar oils. Cedar would likely be more effective than Lavender which lacks the aromatic functional group as a monocyclic chemical structure. Lavender is at most 5% active as a sesquiterpene versus 10% for Juniper berry and 32% in cedar (Texas over Virginia) **Q: It states for external use only, means can not be used to flavor water or any foods?** A: If it's telling you is for external consumption, listen to it. For something to be sold as "food" the machinery it is processed in has to be made out of materials that are safe to interact with the different ingredients without leaching (stainless steel of a certain grade, seals in between metal parts made out of rubber that won't degrade when in contact with this oil). If the manufacturer cannot guarantee that, the product is not deemed for consumption. **Q: Would this work as a personal travel insect repellant?** A: I use it for this purpose... I just put a dab on my inner wrists and behind my knees - or wherever else I feel exposed. It's gentle, effective, economical, superior to other facial skin cleansers, & popular in my family (all my sisters & my daughter & son use it also, after I gave it as gifts). Recipe: Per 8 oz witch hazel, add 1 tsp liquid Castile soap & ~ 12 to 14 drops of Spearmint essential oil, shake to mix well & let it sit for a day, to allow every tiny oil droplet to get fully incorporated into the mixture. Use a cotton pad to apply it to face & neck, twice daily. When it's time to make more, use the last tablespoon or so as the base, add the Castile soap & the spearmint oil, shake it up well & let it sit overnight; in the morning, with all the bubbles gone, pour in the witch hazel; it will be ready to use then after you mix it up. Use it on cotton pads to clean your face, either alone or after a cleansing cream; it's highly effective by itself if you don't wear make-up, and finishes the job if you do. It's great for acne-prone skin. Feels wonderful, too, & is handy for freshening sweaty pits when you're not headed into the shower.
