I use it on a bag that has the handle on top and with the additional bag (via the strap) it balances forward. I'm guessing it would tend to drag your bag weight to the side. **Q: Could someone please give me instructions for using strap?** A: You clip one end to the handle of your larger suitcase. Then you take the longer strap and wrap and clip it around the handle of you small suitcase. The idea behind this is so you just have to pull one suitcase while the other is rest on the other suitcase your pulling. But!!! Your suitcase will slides off to the side horribly. Plus the strap doesn’t hold well. I trough mine away AT THE AIRPORT. Great idea, but total junk. **Q: what is the belt width?** A: Our suitcase are in the upper racks of our garage but if I had to guess the straps are between 2 and 2 1/2 inches.
