These are my dessert secret weapon
I have been experimenting with tirimisu for my husband. I had been making it with supermarket “ladyfingers” which are spongy long versions of their sponge cake in the deli section. I took a chance on this product because crunchy Italian ladyfingers seem more of what the original recipe should be AND the grocery store was out at a critical party juncture and I will not run out again.I was concerned about them still being crunchy in the dessert. My recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of espresso/rum and I always run out so I made 3 cups. I empty two packages (cellophane packs inside the main) onto the table, with one biscuit in each hand, I swish around three times and place them in the dish. They will stay crunchy-ish for about 1 min and then soften so I can break a few in half and tuck into corners.Holy moly! I can’t go back. It’s like being in Qatar business class. I don’t know what I’m going to do now but I can’t go back to economy. Oh my gosh they magically turn into sponge cake. The are less expensive than my grocery store brand and quality is off the charts better.I made an apricot Bavarian and instead of baking a sponge cake I used these. Instead of coffee I brewed strong lemon zinger and some peach tea, then added apricot brandy and lemon zest along with some sugar. Same as my tirimisu soaking liquid. OH. MY. GOD. It turned into pillowy soft lemon scented cake with the apricot Bavarian. In the fall I’m going to hoard bengal spice tea and do a pumpkin or ginger spiced variety. This was true culinary enlightenment.

Makes the best Tiramisu
I recently tried the Balocco Savoiardi Ladyfingers, and I have to say, they’re a solid choice! These ladyfingers are light, crisp, and have a delicate sweetness that makes them perfect for desserts like tiramisu or even just dipping in coffee or tea.The texture is spot on—crunchy yet soft enough to absorb liquids without falling apart. I really appreciated that they weren’t too sugary, which allows the flavors of whatever you pair them with to shine through. Plus, the 1.1-pound package is a great size for making a large dessert or simply keeping on hand for a quick snack. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that while they’re great overall, I found them to be a little more delicate than some other brands I’ve tried. A few did break during handling, but that’s a minor issue. Overall, I would definitely recommend Balocco Savoiardi Ladyfingers to anyone looking for a reliable, tasty option!

Excellent Product
I only use these for tiramisu. They have a crispy texture so they can hold more moisture without falling apart or getting too soggy.

Perfect for Tiramisu
Made some fine tiramisu with these bad boys. James Hoffman’s recipe if you want restaurant-quality at home. Very dry so it absorbs coffee well, you get quite a bit for what you pay.I used saltine crackers in the past and that triggered my guest’s gag reflex.
