An easy way to add some USB 3.0 ports and extend your laptop's life
It came with a driver on a disk, but I read somewhere that it's for Win 10 and up. I needed it for Win 7 so I found a driver online. When I plugged a USB 3 device to it, Windows said to plug it to USB 3 port instead of USB 2, but that's just Windows being confused. I tested the Expresscard's transfer speed vs the laptops 2.0, and the Expresscard was 3x faster. It's much more convenient/cheaper using this Expresscard (if your laptop has a slot for it) than using a powered, external, USB hub.Delivery from China took a while, but it wasn't too bad (few weeks) vs what I'm used to (few months)I've been using it for a few weeks now. I've had no problems so far.

Works well in Lenovo ThankPad X201 with Ubuntu 22.04
Plugged this card into my faithful old Lenovo ThinkPad X201 and immediately have 3 more USB ports and they are USB 3.0! No driver install or configuration required with Ubuntu 22.04.Tested with a 2.5" SSD and a USB3-to-SATA adapter. When plugged into a USB 2.0 port on the X201, I get 32MB/s transfer speed. When plugged into a USB 3.0 port on this adapter card, I get 180~200MB/s. Not as fast as the same SSD & Adapter on the USB 3.0 ports on my desktop PC, but still hugely better than with USB 2.0.The card does get somewhat warm when inserted for some time, even with nothing connected, so I guess it will reduce battery life. Gets very warm when in use with USB devices plugged into it. So I suggest keeping the adapter in your laptop bag and only inserting it when you need to use it.

Rubbish
Total rubbish. Just got hot and didn’t work. It’s so bad that I received a refund and told not to send it back. Don’t be fooled by the one star. I wasn’t able to give it no stars.

Gave my ancient Dell from 2007 USB3.0!
Decided to pull out my most favorite laptop from the closet it's sat in for a decade, and see if I can make it useable today. Installed MX Linux (The original OS was Windows XP), and everything was surprisingly useable EXCEPT the fact it only has USB 2.0, which only transfers data on this laptop at 40MB/s.So I remembered this laptop (a Precision m4300) has two different expansion slots: PC Card and Expresscard, and I wondered if there were any cards that would allow this old beast to have the more up to date USB standard.Found this Expresscard here on Amazon, and due to the reasonable price, I decided to try it out.So I slipped the card into the never-used Expresscard slot on the m4300, then put in a USB3-compliant flash drive... Amazingly, MX had the drivers already loaded, and the USB flash drive appeared...No need to use the included CD-ROM with drivers.I had tested the read and write speed on the 4300's built-in USB ports, and reached a maximum of 40MB/s. I then copied the same ISO going through this Expresscard USB3.0 card, and WOW!The copy speed is now just under 170MB/s.Granted, it's not the max speed possible with USB3, but considering this laptop has a laughably slow bus speed on the motherboard, it's surprising. So, if you have an ancient laptop with an Expresscard slot and are tired of the speeds offered by USB2, get this card. Works great, and is slim with no dongles sticking out. Almost looks like the computer came with it.Amazing...I now have a fully-useable, 16 year-old laptop thanks to this card.

Sometimes it works? Not reliable.
It does give my old equipment usb 3.0 ports sometimes. 1st of all it pulls out of the pcmcia slot super easy if you dont hold it back while removing usb components. I don't always get all or any of the 3 ports reported as usb 3.0 and if I do it never stays connected very long, 20+ minutes depending on its mood. It gets hot whether usb stuff is plugged in or not... eventually shutting off the "usb 3.0 hub". But I mean... when it works, whatever ( won't ever buy from them again but that's just me)

Glad this is still available
I've gone through items like this, they really help aging PCs stay out of landfills. This is my first JMT unit and so far it's been great. The speed is as expected and this unit seems to be taking the heat of multiple USB devices without dropouts or errors. Only time will tell what lifespan this will provide (it's a race between this unit and the laptop itself, hehe).
