However, I have used and will continue to use the ones for bunions and hammer toes. It seems to me that the toes are fine when they are removed. The only problem is that they make the shoe fit a little snugger so I have to be careful of the shoe that I choose to wear. They have helped immensely. **Q: I bought my first set of these in 2021. I did not order more. **Q: Has anyone noticed a nasty odor while using this product?** A: No, have not had that issue. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Long review but worthy product! *by K***Y on March 28, 2021* I have had bunion pain for years that has progressively gotten worse and worse, but amazingly I’ve found that something as simple as toe separators has drastically helped my foot pain. I have these big toe separators and a set that separates all my toes, and I can’t describe to you how great these products are for bunions. I had gotten the all-toes separators first, and while they were really lovely (I had no idea how tense my feet were and using the set that separated all my toes...oh my god, it’s like my toes and feet could finally relax and “breathe” and the blood could circulate and I could walk on my feet properly and the tendons weren’t so tight), I wanted something that I could wear all day long. The set that separates all my toes are unwearable with shoes as it makes my feet not fit, plus they get uncomfortable after about a half hour of separating all my toes. This one, where just the big toe is separated and the bunion is protected, is excellent for all day use and sleeping in. When I first started wearing these, my feet felt a bit sore for about 4 days, but in a good way—my feet, due to my bunions, were so painful especially in the inner arches and in the bone that goes through the big toe, that I had to compensate and walk on the outer edge of my feet to avoid putting pressure on the big toe bone. Walking like this created more pain, and also ankle issues, just to avoid walking on the bunion. I was having bad foot, ankle and bunion pain everyday, and the soreness I felt when I first started using these big toe separators was more because they realigned my crooked big toe bone and relaxed the muscles, and relieved the bunion pain from the bone being so jarringly bent inwards—that I could walk on my feet normally, and the muscles that I hadn’t been using correctly had to readjust to normal walking again. So, it was a good soreness, a “this is how my feet are supposed to be” readjustment. I have no soreness now, and no foot pain at all, and I wear these everyday. I’ve regained some flexibility in my big toes surprisingly. Before I started using these big toe separators, I couldn’t hardly move my big toe because of the pain and stiffness of my bunions, but now they move much more easily on their own and in circular motions without pain after having worn these separators every day. The separators I have that separate all my toes have a similar effect in increasing the flexibility of my toes by decreasing tension and relaxing the muscles. I would definitely recommend these big toe separators to anyone with bunions, as well as the ones that separate all your toes. I have a routine where I wear the big toe separators all day, and then in the evenings I’ll wear the ones that separate all my toes for about a half hour while I rub my feet, and then back to the single big toe separators while sleeping—and this is definitely helping me avoid surgery, so I’d recommend trying something like that. The silicone gel feels good to the touch and it stays in place for active people. However, it leaves a dent and red mark on my big toe and it becomes uncomfortable if I wear it too long. For $10 it was worth trying, and it does straighten my big toe. I just didn’t get the results I was hoping for.
