One of my cars is 30 years old and has semi-aniline ‘Nappa’ leather seats, the other is much newer and has the coated ‘Dakota’ leather common today. On Nappa leather, this product is absorbed well, keeps the leather pliable and soft, and with a gentle buffing, just moderately shiny. On coated Dakota leather, like any other leather care product, it isn’t really absorbed but does clean the surface coating and gives it a nice sheen. Used sparingly and buffed after drying, it doesn’t leave a sticky residue and will not leave your seats slick or slippery either. Quite a number of reviews here bemoan an unpleasant ‘chemical smell’, while an equal number say this product smells great. I’m with the ‘smells great’ crowd; but this is a highly subjective judgment. Some people love the taste of cilantro; some people loathe it. You’ll need to make up your own mind; but to me, this has the aroma of new leather.
