Product Description The Cat Mate Elite Microchip Cat Flap with Timer Control is the perfect solution for selective entry control, operated by your cat’s implanted identification microchip. This eliminates the problems caused by the unwelcome intrusion of neighbouring cats, providing a safe and secure environment for your cat. Once your cat’s microchip has been registered, the Timer Control function can be programmed to select access times for all your cats through the cat flap, e.g. to keep cats in at night. Up to 9 cats can be registered. For cats without an implanted microchip, a unique Cat Mate I.D. Disc can be attached to your cat’s collar (available separately). The easy to view LCD panel displays helpful location indicators for up to 3 selected cats, showing whether they have entered or exited through the cat flap and the time since each cat last used the flap. Other display features include the electronic 4-Way lock status (Unlocked, In Only, Out Only, Locked) and low battery indicator. The stylish design maximises entrance opening space - providing easy, stress-free access for your cat. The large 144mm (W) x 150mm (H) opening is fitted with a transparent flap which is preferred by most cats and is made from super tough polymer. Review: Dit is inmiddels mijn 2e luik van dit merk, de 1e is er na 5 jaar mee gestopt. De binnenzijde vh luik (met de timer) is een keer nat geregend terwijl de deur open stond. Sindsdien bleef de tijd niet op zijn tijd staan en daardoor liep ook de timer niet goed en waren de katten nog binnen terwijl ze naar buiten hadden moeten kunnen of s'nachts op pad terwijl ze binnen hoorde te zijn. De vorige had 3 jaar garantie en deze 2, dus de nieuwe eigenaar heeft er een jaar afgehaald. (jammer) Het luik werkt prima zoals gezegd, het instellen lijkt moeilijker dan het is. Ja de knopjes moet je stevig indrukken, maar daar raak je gewend aan. De katten met een geinplanteerde chip 'inscannen' kun je het beste doen voordat je het luik plaatst. Onze katten zijn hem gewend maar blijven het soms wat spannend vinden om in of uit te gaan door het luik, maar voor een snoepje vliegen ze er doorheen. De prijs is wel hoog voor deze luik, maar hij heeft ons bewezen dat hij het waard is. Als wij er een paar dagen niet zijn kunnen de katten gewoon naar binnen en buiten op de tijden die wij ingesteld hebben.

Programming was fairly simple too, activated the chip scanner, grabbed the cat and posted her from the outside back into the house and it was all done. Set the timer, which works perfectly. It did take her a few days to get used to it because every time she touched it the noise of the solenoid motor made her jump and run away! With some persistence I showed her that it was safe and she now uses it without any issues at all. I was worried about how quickly the reader would work from the outside and make her think it had locked her out, however I was pleased to see that when she was running back in to escape another cat it opened instantly and shut her new friend outside for them to howl at each other through the cat flap. I also find the indicator very handy, when I get home from work I can very quickly see if she's in or out. In summary, excellent. I'm sure that there will be people who don't have a similar experience. My cat is a bit of a wuss so she doesn't really try very hard to defeat the locking mechanism when it won't let her out, she just accepts that it's locked and walks away. If you've got a cat who can open doors etc then they might be able to unlock the flap. It bolts with the solenoid on 2 plastic pins in the center bottom of the flap. Really the 2 plastic pins should be further apart, as it allows the bottom corners to be pulled.

**Q: Does the timer work in training mode? I'm not interested in RIF control; I just need a cat door that operates on a timer.**
A: Kay, I don't think the door will lock in training mode.  But I, like you, just wanted a timed cat-door. For me it was to let the cats go out once the sun was up and lock them in once it got dark.  I do not have any issues with animals (raccoons, opossum, chupacabra) trying to get in and because I have three cats and the chips were kinda big I simply taped a chip to the inside of the kitty door.  This way when it is set to open there is always a chip close enough to activate it and the cat just has to push on it.  Any cat can get in or out during the day and when it is set to close no one can leave (actually I only "close" it so the cats can't get out after dark, but after dark they can get in).  I hope this is helpful for you.Red

**Q: Is the latching mechanism loud?  how long does it take to read the chip and unlatch? rfid collor model is loud and slow.**
A: Noise is moderate.  Latching mechanism timing depends primarily on the microchip placement in the animal.  If the chip is close to the neck area, it works well.  If the chip is more towards the shoulders, the animal has to nose at the door for a period for the latch to trigger correctly.  Hope this helps...

**Q: If I set the timer to lock at night and not let the cats out, if the cats are already outside after that time, are they locked out from coming in?**
A: No, They still can come inside but cannot go back out again until the time you set them to go out.

**Q: i though i read you need the tags ?  so no tags or microchip required for this door " Ani  Mate Elite "**
A: Yes it comes with 2 tags and you can buy more compatible tags to cat mate for 15 bucks for 2.

Dit is inmiddels mijn 2e luik van dit merk, de 1e is er na 5 jaar mee gestopt. De binnenzijde vh luik (met de timer) is een keer nat geregend terwijl de deur open stond. Sindsdien bleef de tijd niet op zijn tijd staan en daardoor liep ook de timer niet goed en waren de katten nog binnen terwijl ze naar buiten hadden moeten kunnen of s'nachts op pad terwijl ze binnen hoorde te zijn. De vorige had 3 jaar garantie en deze 2, dus de nieuwe eigenaar heeft er een jaar afgehaald. (jammer) Het luik werkt prima zoals gezegd, het instellen lijkt moeilijker dan het is. Ja de knopjes moet je stevig indrukken, maar daar raak je gewend aan. De katten met een geinplanteerde chip 'inscannen' kun je het beste doen voordat je het luik plaatst. We purchased this cat door for our colony of barn cats. The door works great -- allows are microchipped cats in and out and generally keeps other critters (skunks, possums, coyotes, foxes, mice) out of the garage. Just a warning for people who might want to use this to keep out raccoons -- if your microchipped cat is near the door (e.g., looking through the window or sleeping or walking nearby) while a raccoon is on the other side, the door unlocks. We have a very smart raccoon who figured this out. It would look through the window and wait for the click of the door unlocking and then come in. This isn't an error in the door -- the door works perfectly well as designed. It's just a raccoon is smart enough to figure out the mechanism and push the door in or pull it back to get in. Just wanted to let others know that this might not be a solution if the animals you are trying to keep out are raccoons.
