Pricey but affective. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This works! *by S***R on January 28, 2026* We get a LOT of fire ant mounds here in South Carolina. I discovered this product years ago and since have used it every year to keep an area of about 10 acres mostly fire ant-free. Someone once gave me a tip on how to check if ants are actively foraging, which is required for this product to work, by putting a couple potato chip on the ground and checking later to see if there are any ants on them. If yes, then go ahead and spread this bait as long as it's not supposed to rain in the next 24 to 48 hours. Once spread, I find that the bait will kill off most mounds within about 4 days, and within 7 days it will be hard to find a mound that is still active. The problem with fire ants, of course, is they send out flying queens regularly from mounds on other people's property, so they will ultimately repopulate an area. I see all these queens floating in my pool skimmer all the time.
