I'll be using it for wood carving in making small sculptural items, and also for carving linoleum or wood for relatively small block printing applications. I didn't want to abuse my nice dining table, and I had nothing else I could use for this purpose, so I hope this will work for my needs. Any time something has "art" written on it, the price rises exponentially, so it makes a lot more sense to buy a shop tool, such as this, rather than something from an art store or outlet, and I am not disappointed with this purchase. It was a great price, and it arrived quickly and was packed up nicely, so that was a good start, too. I can't yet say how the top will hold up. Many reviewers had complaints with the top. I am aware it is particle board, and only has a thin paper-type of cover to give it the appearance of real wood, so that might look crummy real fast, or maybe not. Time will tell. The table is strong for its weight and once assembled should be fine to bolt a bench tool (drill press in my case) to. Strength is coming from tension and geometry, individual components are as thin and light as possible. Assembly is difficult without a helper since most parts require a lot of space to layout and tightening bolts requires weird angles. Assembling this on the floor put me into stress positions like a BSDM scene in order to see what I'm doing. Instructions were sparse and honestly incorrect about wrench size. 8mm wrench slipped constantly, 5/16" might have been closer. Holes in the stamped metal parts line up well enough and there is sufficient flex to lock everything together. The top does not come pre-drilled and there are no dimensions in the instructions. Just lining it up by eye and guessing is their recommendation. Really, it was the cheapest feeling box. While removing the pieces I was a bit relieved to see a thicker metal frame, unlike the shelves touted to hold two tons of weight that had the flimsiest metal. This metal I began to see quality in. The top is a bit...disappointing...but I plan to use a drill press on it, mounted. This will not be a problem. Assembly was easy enough, but DO NOT tighten the screw until fully assembled, otherwise you will be off and mad, fighting with this thing to assemble. Leave the screws and bolts in place, but loose. Then once EVERYTHING is together and screwed to the top, tighten the screws and it will hold perfectly and look great. Adjust the levels for your flooring and you are done. Stable, sturdy, and effective all at a low price.
