Perfect for fastening a book cover, tote bag, purse, coat, jacket---anything that requires a large, sturdy snap. I bought them to use with crocheted neck-warmers, so they would wrap around the neck and stay in place without shifting, or having buttons pop loose. The snaps work quite well for that purpose. These happen to be black snaps, so they're good for use with dark fabrics or materials, especially if you don't want the snaps to be visible. The crocheted neck-warmer I made is dark teal, and I was afraid silver snaps would be too visible, so I opted for black. You get a pack of four snaps, with two halves each (male and female). They're sew-on snaps, which means you'll need a large needle and thread. I recommend using waxed thread, as there's less chance it'll break, or knot and snarl, while you're sewing. (To wax it, pull the thread through a cake of beeswax several times, until it feels a bit like dental floss. Fold the thread into a scrap of muslin and press with a warm iron. This melts the wax, fusing it with the thread.) Be sure to use thread that matches your fabric closely, so it won't be too visible. Very nice product! They don't pop open easily, even under strain. Indeed, it takes some effort to unsnap them.
