We wrapped the cord around a floaty to keep it off the bottom of the pool to be sure it wouldn't melt the plastic. It heated the pool in just a few hours to a nice toasty warm. If I ever need another, I'd buy it again. Review: I wish I could give it zero stars - I didn’t get around to trying to use this for over a month because I didn’t get the kiddy pool set up before then. The return window was closed by the time I tried to use it. Did not do a damn thing. No heat whatsoever. Nothing. To say I am angry is an understatement. It said in the instructions to remove the plastic cover before using. Also, the video of the product shows a person taking it out of the box and it was in a nice plastic bag to protect it. Mine was just shoved in the box. No covering, no bag, nothing. So mine was apparently a return from someone else. The thermometer did not work at all. Changed the batteries and still nothing. I have a big 71 inch freestanding tub that holds a lot of water and my water turns cold while filling it up. I tried that heater and it really got my tub hot hot like I like it.
