## Description

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION New York Times Bestselling Author“Beautiful and heartrending. . . . Memoir, autobiography, epicedium, perhaps even some fiction: they are all here, and they are all quite wonderful.” —Los Angeles Times When Isabel Allende’s daughter, Paula, became gravely ill and fell into a coma, the author began to write the story of her family for her unconscious child. In the telling, bizarre ancestors appear before our eyes; we hear both delightful and bitter childhood memories, amazing anecdotes of youthful years, the most intimate secrets passed along in whispers. With Paula, Allende has written a powerful autobiography whose straightforward acceptance of the magical and spiritual worlds will remind readers of her first book, The House of the Spirits.

Review: Heartbreaking and Beautifully Written - This memoir hits hard — it’s honest, emotional, and full of insight into grief and memory. Isabel Allende’s writing style is vivid and poetic even in such a personal story. Worth reading even if you don’t usually read memoirs.
Review: Profundo!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Marvelous book.

Paula was written in 1993. For reasons that would be painfully irrelevant to mention. For a long time, I didn’t read Latino American authors. Thirty years latter, l found Isabel Allende’s books again. I came across with Paula by mere accident. It does no matter. The book is mesmerizing, absolutely magical. Having recently been trough the painful agony and loss of one of the people l loved the most, l could easily identify with Isabel’s pain before her daughter’s loss. She describes the process in the manner only her can. It’s also an extraordinary autobiographical and historical tale saturated of mystical allusions. A fantastic read that nobody can afford to miss in the way l did thirty years ago.
