They also pass the ever critical "make my feet happy" test my 3-year old son has for shoes. His feet are average size for his age (not wide or narrow). The size 9 was right in line with other shoe brands we tested.My son is also a big fan of the flashing lights (name a kid who is not). He also has a pair of the Stride Rite "Star Wars Morphing Lighted Sneaker" and actually seems to prefer those shoes slightly over these (due to the ability to change the light color more than anything). We've only had them a few weeks but they are a big hit! The Velcro is super easy for our 4 year old to do himself. I think we ordered them a bit too large--the stride rite measurement had him in 8.5/9 but we got a 9.5. I figure with big wool socks they will be a perfect fit.
