I searched around again and happened to find that the einstar just came out, and I was skeptical that this thing would be descent as such a low price point, but I was hopeful because I knew einstars other scanners were probably really good.. but I didn't want to spend 5k to 10k for one of those. So I decided to take a chance, but only because it was prime and I could return it easily. Well, it did not take long to be very pleasantly surprised. This thing is a bargain. I mean 1k is a lot of money, but when you compare it with what is out there, this is nothing short of a breakthrough in price performance. I know I sound like I work for the company but I have nothing to do with them I am just a customer, who got way more than they were expecting, this thing is legit, and it is one of those moments in technology history where you can see a big leap in price/performance being made. A big part of it, and I cannot stress this enough, is the software. These things need to have excellent software in addition to hardware, and the einstar software is very very excellent, refreshingly so. I mean it is not just good for scanning software, it is just very slick and polished and easy to use software in general, and this is coming from me, a nerd who has worked at Microsoft for 30 years. I am overjoyed by this product, it is a revolution, a watershed moment in the world of scanning stuff. I can't wait to see what the next version brings.
