I only played Mafia II, but it ranks up there for me with Red Dead Redemption, GTA V. That has a great deal to do with the game feeling extremely immersive. Mafia II achieved this using a couple of tricks. The time period of 1930's to start the game was brilliant - lots of Art Deco buildings and cars. The game goes through many different ages... The muscle cars and hot rods of the 50's and 60's are brilliant. The music on the car radios reflects each time, and the scenery is spectacular, with different seasons. Art Deco in the snow. Muscle cars in the heat of a dusty summer. Spring through Chinatown with all the cherry blossoms. The mechanics for shooting felt right, the whole thing was just great. Mafia III? It doesn't look like they'll be following the same kind of thing. I'm not sure it has chosen the best time period or location, and the main character looks more like an Uncharted product than a Mafia character. I will still be buying it, but whether the first two games are anything to give an indication, I can't say. I really hope they keep the atmosphere going, otherwise it will just be another shoot-em-up. **Q: Is there a multiplayer mode?** A: No. Mafia III is a single-player game. **Q: Is Mafia III as repetitive as some of the reviews say?** A: Exceedingly repetitive. I traded it in after roughly 8 hours game play.
