China?** A: Spode is an English pottery company, based in Stoke-on-Trent, that was founded by Josiah Spode (1733-1797) in 1770. Josiah Spode earned renown for perfecting under-glaze blue transfer printing in 1783-1784 - a development that led to the launch in 1816 of Spode's Blue Italian range which has remained in production ever since. The word "China" refers to the fact that it is porcelain or earthenware. My wife and I have a complete Spode Christmas set and it all clearly says, "Made in England", on the back. That said, we have seen plenty of imitations in stores that can fake you out if you don't look carefully. Hope this helps. **Q: Made in England or China?** A: The item is made in China. **Q: Looking for best price on 8 Spode Christmas Tree bread and butter places?** A: I found the price on Amazon to be comparable to the prices at the local stores near me that only have Spode dishes at Christmas time. The only place that I have found Spode price lower has been at Home Goods stores, but they never had much selection so I suspect it was stock from some other store that was 'closing it out' **Q: Is there a matching bread and butter plate?** A: Yes, they make bread and butter plates that are about 6" in diameter ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice. *by X***X on 3 June 2023* Arrived in a very good package. Dishes are lovely the only thing I would comment on is that the mugs are a bit small.
