Delivered super fast next day by desertcart, though I had chosen Super Saver free delivery.. They had even sent me an e-mail telling me it was coming... The supplied software and drivers come on a mini cd that fits in the centre of your standard CD tray. The supplied booklet, contains instructions specific to you operating system, so read this before installing the software. Installed without a hitch and once I had waved the little supplied aerial around a bit to get the best signal I could find. It picked up 93 stations. And as long as the signal is strong, it displayed them without hitch. I then tried out the TV record function. On my machine, it placed the recordings in the my video folder and when I tested the screen shot (capture frame) button it put the image in the My Pictures folder. You can alter where it stores pictures and videos, on the home page screen under Setup/General. I then moved one of the recordings to a USB stick and played it back on my HD TV. It was surprisingly good quality. I'm impressed. A very simple to use interface with basic functions and nothing too technical to cause confusion. An electronic program guide (EPG) with a brief program description and channel list, provide a way to scroll through the channels and when you are viewing in full screen, hovering the mouse pointer over the bottom of the screen pops up a floating tool bar with the most required functions on it. Pressing escape takes you out of full screen and back to the TV page. Here you can set up your scheduled recordings and rescan your TV channels if you need to. You can also save channels in a favourites list. No idea how long it will last, but considering the price,it was worth a punt, for a handy little device, that so far has worked very well.. Arcosft provide the Total Media software, it has a well known easily corruptible TMMonitor.exe application that helps open it. Once it fails you either have to delete Windows operating system files planted by Arcsoft or reinstall Windows, Arcsoft have known all about this for some time. Reinstalling the software, System Restore and registry cleaners will not fix this problem, although searching for "TMMonitor fault" will provide several Registry Cleaners claiming to be able to fix the fault if you pay them more than the dongle cost in the first place. I am using it in Debian Linux very successfully. Kaffeine gives full PVR, record and playback capability. Very easy and quick to setup. Avidemux freeware for Windoze and Linux gives the possibility to convert your TS files into mp4 or avi and also edit out the unwanted adverts. **Q: does it work on windows 8.1** A: Yes it works fine on windows 8. Arrived within 24 hrs of ordering. Very easy to install and set up. Installed it on 2 machines - desktop (2.8 Ghz) and laptop (1.8 GHz), both running Win XP Home. Included software is well made and easy to use. Connected to roof top antenna and ran scanning routine.....72 channels found including radio (Bournemouth area - Isle of Wight transmitter). Picture quality is good but I thought it could be a bit brighter - maybe just my monitor. Timeshift feature works very well - much better than the Hauppage WinTV Nova-S-Plus PCI Freesat receiver I have. The supplied indoor aerial didn't pick up anything, until I added a reflector to it (a baking tray works pretty well!). As mentioned I'm in Bournemouth and have the indoor aerial directed towards the Rowridge transmitter on Isle of Wight, about 22 miles away. Have to play around with positioning but can get quite a few channels this way. So all-in-all I'm quite impressed with this little gadget.
