I have been hesitant buying one for a while, due to mixed reviews on various other brands' drives, but after seeing the good reviews for this one, i decided to purchase. The build quality is great. Much more solid than the external dvd drive i have. The sleek stand gives it a cool aesthetic look, and helps with space. I've ripped several blu-ray music discs so far, and they transferred quick. After that, i've tested playing some blu-ray's, using powerdvd, and they all started up fairly quick, and without issues. The cable length could have been a bit longer, as i use a electric standing desk, and won't be able to use this while i am standing, but it's fine to use for sitting. I plan to use this to back up all my blu-ray/dvd media, so hopefully it will do that without much issue! Apart from that, i'm very pleased with the purchase, and to say blu-ray drives don't really get produced nowadays, i was happy with the price, especially after noticing some of the higher prices for now delisted drives. If these are stored on an m disc they will last for hundreds of years without any deterioration. Also you can get M Discs, which are the same size as a normal RW DVD disc, that will store 100GB of data etc and store it permanently. **Q: how is it powered** A: I agree with the others, just plug in the SATA power cable and away you go.
