The Portwest PW79 Long Peak Bump Cap is built for the spaces between the office and the building site: warehouses, distribution centres, food production lines, engineering bays, rail depots and maintenance walkways. Confidence.WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT IS NOTThe PW79 is an EN 812 certified bump cap. It is independently tested and CE certified, with a UKCA mark for Great Britain and certification audited by Alienor Notified Body 2754. It is built to protect the head from minor bumps and scrapes against fixed objects: shelving, racking, low pipework, door frames. It is not an EN 397 industrial hard hat and is not intended for sites with a falling-object risk that require one. Where a hard hat is mandated, choose a hard hat.HOW IT IS BUILTAn inner ABS shell carries a high-density EVA pad that absorbs everyday knocks, while the outer is finished in cotton and polyester. The seven centimetre peak shields the eyes from overhead halogens, low winter sun and reflected glare off polished concrete. A breathable mesh panel on the back works with internal vent holes to keep air moving over the scalp on long shifts, and a padded headband softens pressure points across the forehead. The whole cap weighs just 0.16 kilograms.FIT AND USEA hook-and-loop strap adjusts the fit from 54 to 59 centimetres so the cap stays in place through bending, lifting and quick head turns. A: No - this will not protect the head in a cycling accident as it will fall off.  My husband uses it for DIY and gardening jobs only.
