Incredibly smooth retrieve, great casting distance. Didn't really get to test the drag since the biggest fish I caught was about 17 inches. I do love this reel but i don't know if it's worth paying an extra $500+ over a Vanford, which I also have in the same 2500 size using the exact same line set up. At least for what I'm targeting. Nice to have a flagship reel but don't think I'll be swapping out all my combos anytime soon. I bought the Stella to experience their top end technology. Wow, it clicks loudly 4 times on every turn of the reel; totally annoying and no way to fix it unless you send it to Shimano for repair.
