Very good sound quality, excellent sound stage with stunning bass

Overall a good recording with a lot of detail to sound interesting. Has a playful and very relaxing sound.I have not set out to write reviews of the music content as “beauty is in the ears of the listener”. These reviews are about the quality (or not) of the recorded sound. To read about how the reviews are done please see my profile. • Clarity – very good, detailed, transparent • Channel separation – very good • Channel balance – a good interesting dynamic mix which fully uses the left and right channels • Sound Stage - very good, deep and wide. A spacious sound stage which is entrancing and which gently moves between the channels emphasising the beats and pulses • Distortion – non audible • Compression – no frequency limitation audible, the drums are very slightly soft • Atmosphere – good has a relaxed and spacious feel. At times can feel rather 60’s film noir, more than just chilled • Bass – low frequencies – the real high point of this recording can be very deep almost subsonic and intense. Capable of “slamming”. The drums are on the whole well balanced but a little soft on occasion or far back in the mix • Treble – high frequencies – detailed careful measured, not overpowered by the deep bass. Progresses and meanders at its own pace • Vocals – loops and samples are goodAs a general rule of thumb recordings from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s are nearly always better on the original vinyl. Remasters often fail to please as it’s just not possible to make a silk purse from a sows ear, i.e. the original recording lacks the necessary detail to be processed digitally and show an audible improvement. Indeed such processing can make the sound worse.Modern recordings which have been processed digitally from start to finish can be as good as vinyl. CD’s are often unfairly criticised for being poor quality. This is not the case, it is the original recording or the process which is to blame. Modern “remasters” can both enhance and degrade a recording. The statement GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) is the limiting factor. Ignore this at your cost.

    BEST OF FB

*by B***L on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 December 2014*

CHILLTASTIC! For me the best FB album. I love the deeper sound of these guys with a trippy 90's bassy feel and mid tempo delights. It's a classic for my golden chillin times and it takes me on a journey into outer space. It's so un-pretenious aswell I spelt that wrong probably but I hope you know what I mean? Un-like the over produced cack that you tend to get these days it is a sniper of an album, flowing under the radar of typical chill or dance music. If you are into acts like Future sound of London the orb or boards of Canada this could be a great addition to your eccentric collection.
