The one I have now is so complicated.** A: Yes. For weekdays first hit PRGM and enter the times and temperature, then hit Run to enter them. Repeat for weekend. There are no stop times, you are simply changing the temperature at these entered times. **Q: Can it be used manually. Ie. Without programming** A: I always use it in manual because I don't like the way the program feature is set up. Just choose heat or cool, fan in auto, and set temp, all you have to do. If you want programmable I would recommend something else. **Q: how do I get manual for my model # aF78** A: I could not find White Rogers thermostat with your model number. However I did find on designated as "1 F 78" (The spaces are intentional.) Be careful to search for models using the case (upper or lower) and spaces. DG **Q: Can it be set for one degree cycle rate, e.g., set temp at 70 so heat will go on at 69 then off at 71?** A: Don’t understand your question as mine is basically an on-off action. If in heat mode setting 69F, will cause heater to shut off when 69 reached. Heater back on if temp drops below 69F. There’s a little delay, like 1 degree such that heater waits before turning on or off too quickly. Purchased to replace older existing thermostat. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good and Easy Replacement for My Old White-Rodger Thermostat *by H***. on November 21, 2025* If anyone ever have any question what to replace if your thermostat is reading the wrong temperature, you can just replace the thermostat. My old White-Rodger thermostat (that looks externally exactly like this one) has started reading 14 deg F while it's still 69 deg F and I can't adjust thermostat lower than 40 deg F. I know I had to replace it. I was just worried that the temperature sensor was somewhere else and changing the thermostat isn't going to do anything. Well, when I opened the box and put the battery in, I'm happy to see that it reads 70 deg F. I was relieved that the sensor is at the thermostat. So I went and swap the old one with this one. The old thermostat only have two wires going into it: White and Red. I do believe Red is power and White is the heater signal. I just need to take out the old wires and removed the two screws from the thermostat housing to get them out. I routed the wires from the middle opening and put them into the W and Left R. It take some fenagling to put it the wires in without pliers but it goes in just fine. Making sure no exposed wires touching any other contacts or wires. The contact screws are much smaller on this model than the old one. You might need a precision screwdriver for it. Other than that, the installation was very simple. The housing uses the same screw holes as the old one. So the installation was REALLY easy and eventless. I tested the thermostat and it turns on the heater.
