My base it a little wider than most and all other toothbrush heads have one size D-shaped openings that fit onto the stem. This one has the round part of the D shape that is separate, so it allows it to fit on different size stems. With any other it would rip the inside if you'd force it on. But this allows it to fit perfectly without damaging the head.
