Instead of the included compound I use trend mirror paste on the smooth side provides a much better edge. I use the lapping films and float glass method for sharpening so a final strop is all I need. The leather feels substantial and performs very well for refining and maintaining sharp edges. Out of the box, the only drawback is that the strop can slide around during use. To solve this, I mounted it to a wooden base using contact adhesive and added a non-slip backing. Since I primarily strop on the suede side, I glued it suede-side up—and the result is fantastic. It’s now a rock-solid bench strop that I reach for after every sharpening session.
