It simply stretches over our pups head and then automatically sets itself for the right size for adequate pressure without being too tight or too loose. It has three settings that are very handy. 1) vibrate only 2) shock but lightly (you set the level you want) 3)super shock which will stop him/her in their tracks if you like. (you also set the level to #3 that you would like) Also we like the saftey feature that once you set the levels it takes a bit to get back to those levels so they can't be adjusted by accident. I like that this is gentler than a standard shock collar (tried it on myself). It dos the job and my dog has learned quickly with the tap button (buzz/vibration) to listen immediately before he gets shocked. I’d recommend this to collar.
