RMSTATOR Replacement for Mosfet Regulator Rectifier BMW F 650 / F 700 / F 800 / G 650 / CS GS GT R S ST 1999-2017 | OEM Repl.# 61312346550

My 2nd purchase from RMStator, my first was the Stator for my BMW F800GS and it was good. After my OEM Regulator packed up, I decided to purchase this Mosfet regulator after speaking to RMStator who has been very kind and helpful to give me a testing guide on finding the problem.One week later after ordering I had the item and could not wait to fit it to the bike. Sadly, 15 seconds after initial connection to the bike, the 3 yellow wires coming from the Stator to the regulator began heating up very rapidly almost to the point of melting, before I disconnected everything. Thinking that it might be the battery, I disconnected the battery side of the regulator (round plug) and put the multi-meter on to test again. Sadly the problem remained, this could cause a fire if left running for longer.I removed the unit and contacted RMStator, who advised to do the diode test as explained in their troubleshooting guide and send pictures of the test. The test revealed one phase was shorting explaining why the wires would get hot, the stator generates lots of volts and nearly 50Amps!RMStator acknowledged that the tests I submitted deemed the unit to have suffered internal fault and was kind enough to refund me without having to send the unit back (being a international purchase). I can say that the emailed correspondence was always friendly and helpful, it is truly a shame that the product was faulty though and I had to purchase from another source in order to get the bike running again.I hope RMStator can get to the bottom of why some of their units are doing this.PS: Looking at another review from the Non-Mosfet rectifier, another buyer had his regulator cause a fire on his bike back in 2021, seems to be a problem with the quality of parts in the rectifier or a bad batch.
