As far as the heat factor, its not considerably spicy hot, just plain awful. **Q: How much sodium is in this?** A: 320 mg sodium per 1 Tbsp serving. **Q: Should this be refrigerated after opening?** A: Yep! (PS This comes in one large pouch package that can be a little tricky to get back into the can and into the fridge without making a mess) **Q: How much soup base does this make, volume, not "servings"??** A: I don't know for sure, but I would imagine quite a lot. In a good-sized pot of soup, at least 3 to 4 quarts... I used only a few tablespoons of it. In my opinion the balance was wrong so I read some reviews and added Tamirind Sauce it helped. After that I purchased some coconut milk powder and mixed the paste with that and the taste improved loads. You can add prawns but for a luchtime soup I added spinach cubes and you get a very delicious soup.
