Steam works better with synthetic but I find that spraying water on cotton hats works much better. I've also found that a 4 way hat stretcher gives better results. **Q: Hi. As well as hats, I also have flat caps in both cotton and leather. Please can you tell me if this will this stretch flat caps?** A: I stretched some caps made of wool or wool-blends with this tool. I see no reason why they wouldn’t stretch caps made from cotton or leather, but may need to be restretched periodically. **Q: Would this work on SnapBack hats?** A: I would imagine so although I haven't tried it on a snap-back one. It's worked like a charm on a couple of my cotton/denim newsboy hats. One of those was very small too, stretched by around 2 sizes, with a little steam. **Q: Hi will this stretch a hat made of waxed cotton? Thanks** A: I have never tried to stretch a waxed cotton hat, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.
