**Q: send some kind of protection so that will not melt?**
A: Maybe. In the summer they ship in ice packs.BUT, it was still 95 degrees in Sacramento when mine arrived MELTED. (Oct 3, 2014)

**Q: approximately how many candies in the package of hershey's nuggets 38.5 oz.?**
A: Just ordered the 33.9 oz package and figured I'd count it out since so many people wanted to know.  I got 99 candies total, almost equally divided between the four types (26 Special Dark, 25 Milk with Almonds, 24 each of the other two).  At 3 pieces per serving, you get a respectable 33 servings out of this bag.  Not bad!

**Q: Generally what is the shelf life of these chocolates from the day they are shipped?**
A: Back when I purchased these a while back I bought 2 at the time (1 for Halloween and 1 for personal consumption) which had a good shelf life. I'd say you'd be good for a few months in my opinion. In case you were wondering there's about 100 nuggets per package. I counted them out at the time. Hope this helps you decide to buy or not. ^Jim
