Brief introduction to each chapter at the beginning of each chapter - this gives overview and context for the chapter5. Excellent bindingCons:None I could think ofNote: this book is for someone who never read Bhagavadgeetha. So, everything is straightforward without any deeper explanation. Having said that Bhagavadgeetha itself is insightful and full of wisdom. So, you will benefit reading this book for sure.

Explains the Gita and the concepts behind the text very well
This book is an excellent read. The author's command of the English language and his writing set the foundation for a good book. He builds on that by first explaining a number of concepts that are required to understand the Gita. Each chapter of the Gita is preceded by the author's explanation of what the chapter is about. Then the translation of the chapter follows. Mr Easwaran, the author, has a secular outlook and his broad perspective towards life is evident in his writing. I had read The Bhagwad Gita As It Is by Prabhupada, which I found very boring and was almost hard selling the words "Krishna consciousness. Mr Easwaran's words made learning some tough to grasp concepts a breeze. I highly recommend it.

Great Read..
Have read many self-help books so far, after reading the Bhagwad Gita I can confidently say that those books derive their fundamentals from Bhagwad Gita

The Gita explained in lucid language
I have not read any other version of the Bhagavad Gita. I picked up the current book on recommendation from my professor at IIM Bangalore. The author explains the deep philosophy of the Gita in lucid language. He first describes in detail the spirit of each chapter before delving into a literal English translation of a chapter from the Gita. My slight complaint about the author's explanation that precedes every chapter is that the explanation could have been more crisp. However, the author may have intended to address a wide range of audience, some of whom may not be familiar with the basic tenets of Hindu philosophy. Overall, this is a great first book to comprehend the involved Hindu philosophy narrated in the Bhagavad Gita.

A must read translation.
The translation captures and conveys the subtle meanings very effectively. It is a beautiful, wise and high quality translation. The introduction puts the epic Song Divine in its proper perspective. A very right book for a beginner even as it is deep. The language is very lucid and it is an effortless read.Highly recommended.

Beautifully summarised
The Gita is a text one keeps reading over a lifetime. Every reading and every interpretation brings a new understanding. Eknath's version is wonderfully suuccint and a great initiation into this text.

Fantastic!
The reason I have started reading the book is to find a balanced unbiased true to the core translation of this 'holy' scripture. And I got that.

Fantastic Version of The Bhagavad Gita.
The introductions to each chapter are very helpful. The glossary and notes are extremely useful, they make the book easy to navigate. This author and publisher does a really great job at making their books very readable and easy to manage. I have the Upanishads by the same publisher/author and it is of the same print/design.

Truly great!
I believe that philosophy, beauty and truth are the very best things in life. And the experience of this book for me was a combination of all. For every person, this book is different I believe. For me, the greatest lesson was that singleness of purpose, or focus in our talent and duty, brings peace of mind and spirit once we understand we are part of the whole. I became aware of so many things that is hard to put in words the joy and calmness I experienced with the book. A life experience worth having, not magical, but the clarity and beauty of the text makes us see the world more maturely and objectively, and yet more tolerant and patient with its unpredictable continuous change. Just loved it!

Espectacular!
Easwaran es la versión que debe de ser leída si no conoces la historia o cultura de India e hinduismo. Este libro es una belleza por si solo pero Eknath pule el diamante en bruto para el lector.
