"AMAZING: is all I can say. Without exaggeration, it spead up my signal about 4x's. I love it, it consistent, I use 5.0 and 2.4. Avg download speads, 175 Mbps. I also hooked it up my my newest laptop with Windows 10. The software doesn't load up like it did on Win 7. It was a little aggravating, but my downloads speeds average about 170 Mbps. Sometimes it's less, but that the internet! I am not exaggerating, I can take the antenna off, and my speeds are in the 40 to 60 Mbps range. I just wish the software was the same for Windows 10 as it is for Windows 7. You have to know a little bit about setting up networks to make it work. You will have a WiFi 1 and a WiFi 2 after installing the software. This antenna will be on WiFi 2. UPDATE: You MUST have a good Router for this antenna. I call the support line, they helped me with the settings for my router. LynkSys changed a few settings on the Router. No calls or changes to the antenna. 60ft away and I am constantly getting around 175 Mbps. I have a two story home, I take the antenna off, and my speeds are 50 to 60 Mbps.consistently. Put the antenna back on (USB 3.0 port) and instantly I have my 160 to 170 Mbps back. I love this antenna, but you need a fairly new computer to get these speeds. NOTE: I only have 150 Mbps service at my home, that's all I pay for, but sometimes I will reach over 180 Mbps. My internet is lightening fast. I am very happy and will be buying a few more. My nephew has an MAC. With the stock antenna and NO adjustments, he gets 160Mpbs with no problem. The apple computer does this straight out of the box, FYI., Also his Apple phone gets around 150 Mbps with not problem. UPDATE #3: I am in the process of buying another one of these antennas. It's still working great, and my speeds have not changed. I have another laptop I am going to use the new one on. Works great on Windows 7 & 10. I am still very happy with the antenna. "Just" sometimes it gets in the way, but considering I am using it on laptops, that's to be expected. When I disconnect the antenna, I loose 70% of my speed! Review: Perfect. Ethernet speeds, 100% throughput & stability, all over WiFi connection? Look nowhere else... - Wow, just...wow! I ordered this product to replace my junky TP-LINK T4U, and this BrosTrend 1200Mbps blows any other adapter I've ever used out of the water! I get consistent 5Ghz speeds, no drops, and 100% throughput on web requests (going to a website/navigating) and absolutely amazing download speeds. My overall impression of most wireless adapters has always left something to be desired. I don't want a PCI-E adapter hanging out of my rig, and furthermore I need something that I can have out in the open, and not hidden behind my giant aluminum casing, under my desk. Chime in this amazing product! Solved all of those issues as a USB 3.0 adapter, plus it came with an extension! The WiFi antennas are big, and for me that's a giant plus, because they do what they are supposed to do! They amplify the adapter's ability to pick up my router's signal, and that's just fine by me! + Fast; really, really fast. + Easy installation! Just plug it in, and off ya' go! + Solid connections, at Ethernet speeds! I'm not joking, this is as good as it gets without that pesky LAN cable. - THERE ARE NO CONS! Remember, this is a pretty big adapter with antennas attached. That's the idea, this is a long range adapter. You can't get more range without obfuscating some aesthetics of your surrounding objects (desk, monitor, etc). Just make sure you have enough room after you check out the dimensions. 10/10 : I did not expect this product to be _this_ good. Outstanding. ## Features - ULTIMATE Wi-Fi SPEED: You Can Get 867Mbps Wireless Speed on 5GHz WiFi Band or 300Mbps Speed on 2.4GHz WiFi Band, Excellent for Online 4K Video, Gaming, High Quality Music and Facebook by Using this Dual Band USB WiFi Adapter - BOOST YOUR RANGE: Comes with 2 pieces of 5dBi High Gain WiFi Antennas, this Long Range WiFi Adapter Ensures Range Extended WiFi and Superior Stability on Your Desktop, Laptop, PC - FLEXIBLE DEPLOYMENT: Equipped with a USB 3.0 Cradle with Extension Cable of 5 Feet, Connect it to Any USB Ports of Your Desktop, Laptop or PC and Put this USB WiFi Network Adapter in Spot with Optimal WiFi Signal Reception; Or You Can Also Plug this USB WiFi Dongle Directly to Any USB Port of Your Desktops or Laptops - USB 3.0 PORT WITH GOLD PLATED: Comes with USB 3.0 Port which Works 10 Times Faster than USB 2.0; USB Port with Gold Plated Ensures More Stable and Solid Internet Connection; And it is Backward Compatible with USB 2.0 Port; Your Best WiFi Adapter for PC of Desktop and Laptop - UNIVERSAL COMPATIBILITY: This Wireless Adapter Works with Any WiFi Routers; Supports Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7; Linux is NOT supported; To Get OPTIMUM WiFi SPEED, Please Download Latest Driver on BrosTrend Official Web; Offers 7X24 Technical Support - ADVANCED WPA3 SECURITY: Secure Your Devices and Network Privacy by Supporting the Latest Wireless Encryption: WPA3-SAE, WPA2/WPA/WEP, AES/PSK/TKIP, 802.1x. If you disable all WIFI network adapters but the one starting with Realtek8812BU... the restart your computer this should fix disconnect issues. Make sure you do this after every Windows update and check to see that only Realtek8812BU... is enables. Go to Device Manager->Network Adapters->Realtek **Q: Can i use a longer usb extension cable than your 5ft cable? at what length will signal degrade?** A: Recommend you do not go over 10-feet total cable length unless you use an *Active* extension cable, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HP2UI/ While a passive cable may work for a while, it will be more prone to error and retransmission. Quality is VERY important also. A poor quality passive cable will not work as well. **Q: When traveling I want to pull in the parking lot of businesses offering wi-fi with out having to go inside. Will brostrend 1200 work using Window 10 ?** A: First, I have never tried to install this product on a Windows 10 machine - but if them boys at BrosTrend offer a driver for Windows 10 - then it will work. Second - that piece of equipment picked up WiFi connections from blocks away from the house where I was installing this device - and the signals were strong too. I have no doubt that the 1200 will pick up their signals - however - you may have to get their passwords to use the signal. I know McDonald's WiFi is password protected. I don't know about StarBucks. Good luck to you. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love it, it consistent *by D***" on August 4, 2017* I purchased this antenna and downloaded the software on my Windows 7 laptop. Outstanding. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works...and it arrived a day earlier than anticipated... *by G***R on October 31, 2018* Great service when a unit arrives a day earlier than expected and also works as advertised. Packaging and product quality is as expected for the very reasonable price. Best practices warning...DO NOT get ahead of youself and plug the unit into your computer before or during your software install. Rather than install from the included mini CD, I downloaded the latest drivers from the website. Installation had one minor glitch...when I ran setup.exe, it returned an error message indicating my OS was not supported (Win 10 PRO ver. 1803), so I tried running install.bat that was located in the same install directory. The install proceeded without an error message, so I plugged the unit in and it was recognized immediately. I took my laptop outside and walked to a point about 120 yards from my house where the internal wifi was not able to connect reliably. At that point, I switched off the internal wifi and plugged in the high gain system and got about 3 bars consistently. I did not do a speed test, but browsing was as snappy as it would be indoors. Over the next few days I'll do some actual speed tests and add to this review. If you are connecting to a dual-band router and need maximum range, connect to a 2.4GHz channel, not a 5GHz channel. My 5GHz channel was much weaker than the 2.4GHz channel at the distance I tested. I purchased this unit to use when traveling in my RV or camping somewhere with poor wifi coverage...a fairly common situation. Also, using this unit to connect to an otherwise unreliable wifi hotspot will allow WIN 10 users to set up a mobile hotspot with their computer (if it has it's own internal wifi) and share the connection with other nearby devices, such as a second laptop or a cell phone that would otherwise be unable to connect. I tested this and it works. Great if you want to browse or do wifi calling on a cell phone. Inside my home or around the house, my coverage is fine, so it's not needed.
