Sure, this isn't what I'd recommend if your kid is looking for a good bed time story - but it's not the standard soulless affair that either expects you to already know seven other programming languages or have never heard of a computer before in your life. It's a good book. That said - there IS a prerequisite that you already at least be modestly knowledgeable in Kotlin, and as it just so happens, BNR has a book for that as well. Review: Best book for learning Android Programming - I read this book in the library and liked it so much that I bought a copy. It seriously reads like a novel. The examples are super clear and easy to follow. Far and away the best computer book I've ever read. These guys really know their stuff. I am about to sit down with it and read it again to follow along with my computer. I am really looking forward to it. How often can you say that? There are six or seven example programs that the book has you write. They build upon concepts from previous examples so that you continually progress and feel like there is a connection to what you are doing throughout the book.
