I bought this to scan photos with, It has 1200 dpi listed for photos and documents. When trying to do color photos it locks up after about half of the scan. Black and white pictures scan, but come out as a bunch of scattered dots. It does scan pictures at 600 dpi.

Aufgabe des Scanners bei mir: Einscannen von Post, v. a. von Gerichten, also mitunter vorher geklammert. Scan im Stapel, Dokumententrennung über Barcode oder leere Seite, Stand-alone-Betrieb und speichern als durchsuchbares pdf in DropBox. Letztlich muss man sagen, dass leider nahezu nichts davon funktioniert hat, trotz langem Ausprobieren und immer wieder Anpassen der Scanprofile. Die Scanprofile eines Rechners sind nur auswählbar, wenn der jeweilige Rechner eingeschaltet ist. DropBox kann nur mit kostenpflichtigem Drittanbieter (WebDAV-Verbindung) erreicht werden, oder über Verzeichnis des mit dem Account verbundenen Rechners. War also nichts mit stand-alone. OCR im pdf hat das pdf nicht durchsuchbar gemacht, weil die OCR offenbar alles mögliche, aber nichts Menschenlesbares erkannt hat. Leere Seiten zur Dokumententrennung konnten nicht eingesetzt werden, weil dann die leeren Rückseiten von den Dokumentenseiten nicht entfernt werden konnten. Die Option „leeres Blatt“ gibt es nicht. Der Versuch, unterschiedliche Barcodes einzusetzen, hat nur teilweise funktioniert, weil die Barcodes in grundsätzlich mehr als ausreichender Größe nur unzuverlässig erkannt wurden. Es war also immer Nacharbeit nötig. Der Einzug mit dem vielbeworbenen Rüttler ist eine Farce. 80 Blatt kann man angeblich einlegen. Sobald aber mehr als 20-25 Blatt 80g Papier DIN A4 (also Standardmaterial) eingelegt sind, kriegt man in hässlicher Häufigkeit Doppel- und Dreifacheinzüge, also wieder nacharbeiten. Habe seit Jahren einen Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 im Einsatz und dort mit demselben Material sehr selten Einzugsprobleme gehabt, ganz ohne Rüttelfunktion. Der ScanSnap hat allerdings schon mal ne Seite geknüllt, das kam bei diesem Scanner gar nicht vor in der Nutzungsphase. Anlaufzeit bei jedem Scan: 5-15 Sekunden. Manchmal wurde der Scanner nicht mehr erkannt, erst nach Neustart des Rechners wieder. Gut und praktisch waren: Eindruckmöglichkeit eines Stempels auf die Vorderseiten-Scans mit z. B. Nr, Datum, Uhrzeit. Die Bildkorrektur (s/w Text) ist sehr gut, der Text hervorragend lesbar (besser als bei ScanSnap). Insgesamt eine Erfahrung, die mich angesichts des hohen Preises bei meinen Anforderungen nicht überzeugt hat. Wer die umfangreiche Zusatzsoftware zur anschließenden manuellen Dokumentenbearbeitung brauchen kann, für den mag die Bilanz vielleicht noch anders ausfallen, ich wollte ja nur einen Scanner, mit dem man sich Standardaufgaben automatisieren und vereinfachen kann. Habe den Scanner schließlich zurückschicken müssen. Für mich ist der nichts. Und von Kodak lasse ich in diesem Segment künftig angesichts dieses desaströsen Einzugs die Finger.
