However if mounted in a metal framed door the metal acts like a heat-sink. **Q: Can this be used outdoors? (is it weather rated...?)** A: It can be used on a front door that is under cover. Love the lock but the connector is way to big to fish through a 3/8 hole in the strike box on a mettal door. Especily one that is cast in concrete. They need to make the connector low profile or a connection on the lock. I always have to clip off the connector and wire it up with beanies. This of corse voids the warranty.
